Job summary

Keystone Civil in Geelong is seeking an experienced GPS Plant Operator to join our civil construction team. You will operate GPS-equipped plant, read designs and deliver accurate earthworks across roads, subdivisions, water and pipelines.

Ideal candidates have GPS machine control experience, final trim knowledge, and tickets for excavators, dozers or graders. A CAN DO attitude and safety focus are essential for success on our busy projects.

• Final trim experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Operate GPS-equipped mobile plant across a variety of civil projects.
• Use 3D GPS machine control systems to achieve design levels and specs.
• Perform final trim, bulk earthworks, excavation, grading and detailed earthworks.
• Read and interpret construction plans, levels and digital models.
• Work across roads, subdivisions, water and sewer infrastructure and pipelines.
• Operate excavators, dozers, graders, loaders and posi-tracks as tickets allow.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers and surveyors to meet tolerances.
• Identify design or site issues and communicate with the project team.
• Conduct daily pre-start checks and ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Maintain high safety and production standards.
• Work with wider team to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget.

Keystone Civil is a diverse and dynamic civil construction company based in Geelong. With continued growth and exciting new opportunities across civil infrastructure, road construction, bulk earthworks, renewables, pipelines and water infrastructure, we are looking for an experienced GPS Plant Operator to join our team.

We are particularly interested in skilled operators with strong GPS and final trim experience who can confidently work from digital designs and deliver accurate, high-quality earthworks.

What you will be doing day to day:

• Operate GPS-equipped mobile plant across a variety of civil construction projects.
• Use 3D GPS machine control systems to complete earthworks accurately to design levels and specifications.
• Perform final trim, bulk earthworks, excavation, grading and detailed earthworks.
• Read and interpret construction plans, levels, digital models and site requirements.
• Work across projects including roads, subdivisions, water and sewer infrastructure, pipelines, landfills, bulk earthworks and renewable infrastructure.
• Operate a range of plant depending on your tickets and experience, including excavators, dozers, graders, loaders and posi-tracks.
• Work closely with supervisors, engineers and surveyors to achieve required levels, tolerances and project specifications.
• Identify potential level, design or site issues and communicate them to the project team.
• Conduct daily pre-start checks and inspections to ensure machinery is operated safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high standards of safety, productivity and care of equipment.
• Work collaboratively with the wider construction team to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget and to a standard we can all be proud of.

What the ideal candidate looks like:

• White Card – Essential
• Demonstrated experience operating plant in civil construction
• Strong experience using GPS machine control systems.
• Final trim experience is highly regarded.
• Experience with systems such as Trimble, Topcon or Leica is advantageous.
• Highly skilled operating an excavator, dozer and/or grader, with additional plant experience highly regarded.
• Experience across civil infrastructure, roadworks, bulk earthworks, subdivisions, pipelines or similar projects.
• Ability to confidently work to design levels, tolerances and specifications.
• Ability to read and understand civil construction plans and site requirements.
• Relevant plant tickets and competencies.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work.
• A proactive, CAN DO approach to solving problems.
• Reliable, safety-focused and committed to working as part of a team.
• Willingness to work across different Keystone Civil projects as required.
