Job summary
Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking a Coordinator Governance & Risk in Bannockburn to support strategic oversight under the Local Government Act 2020. The role leads governance, risk and compliance across the organisation and provides expert advice to the CEO and Council.
The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in governance, law or business and experience with risk management and audit committees.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification related to governance, law or business management.
- Strong understanding of Local Government Act 2020 and related legislation.
- Ability to monitor legislation and prepare advice.
- Experience leading risk management and audit committees.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Governance and Risk function, ensuring delivery of governance, risk and compliance services.
- Provide expert advice to the CEO, ELT and Council on governance and legislative matters.
- Coordinate and manage the Audit & Risk Committee, including papers, minutes and secretariat support.
- Oversee Council meetings and briefings in alignment with Governance Rules and the Local Government Act 2020.
- Provide governance advice to Councillors as required.
- Oversee elections in collaboration with the VEC and manage risk framework.
