Job summary

Golden Plains Shire Council in Bannockburn, VIC, seeks a Team Leader Building & Facilities to coordinate management, maintenance and activation of community facilities and assets. The role offers genuine hybrid work arrangements and flexible hours to support a balanced lifestyle.

You will lead a small team, develop policies, manage safety and service levels, and engage with stakeholders to maximise utilisation of council facilities for the community.

Qualifications

• Understanding and knowledge of community development and engagement practices in local government.
• Experience in the management, maintenance and governance of multi-use facilities with strategies to increase utilisation and accessibility.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build links with stakeholders, oversee contractors and support user groups/tenants.
• Experience applying quality assurance principles and analysing information to measure outcomes.
• Well-developed writing and presenting skills for reports, agreements and public correspondence.
• Practical experience in financial management, procurement, risk management, and health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Building and Facilities team to deliver services, safety, values-led culture and department goals.
• Develop and implement policies across community facilities including fees, service levels and assessment of demand.
• Supervise asset maintenance and Essential Safety Measures compliance for all Council buildings and facilities.
• Oversee contracts, contractor works and trade panels for building maintenance and cleaning services.
• Lead planning, budgeting and reporting for buildings and facilities using evidence-based data and community feedback.
• Collaborate to activate spaces based on risk assessment and suitability of user groups.
