Job summary

Inner West Council (IWC) seeks a Governance/Compliance professional to support governance, policy development, and information access processes. The role involves coordinating meetings, ensuring statutory compliance, and contributing to internal audits within a dynamic local government setting.

The position offers permanent and temporary opportunities with a focus on delivering transparent governance and continuous improvement in council operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in government administration or a similar role, or the ability to quickly develop capabilities in government administration.
• Knowledge of Local Government Act 1993, Local Government (General) Regulations 2021, Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and related guidance.
• Governance, compliance, policy development, internal audit and information access initiatives with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate key Council and leadership meetings.
• Support policy development and statutory compliance activities.
• Assist information access requests and internal audit tasks.
• Engage with stakeholders across the organisation to drive improvement.
