Job summary

Amazon Support Services Pty Ltd in Sydney seeks a Network Development Manager to lead the global Network Deployment and Capacity Engineering team, building and scaling our Direct Connect network to support AWS customers.

You will manage a diverse group of network engineers and technical program managers, drive automation, monitor uptime, mentor staff, and collaborate with engineering partners to rollout new designs across regions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years leading teams in engineering or operations.
• 5+ years engineering experience.
• 8+ years in technology roles.
• Experience with network operations either as a manager or individual contributor.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of globally distributed network engineers and technical program managers.
• Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and iterative improvement.
• Partner with Engineering and Operational teams to ensure high availability and uptime of the AWS Direct Connect Network.
• Define and drive projects that improve efficiency in day-to-day tasks, identifying key metrics and reporting on progress.
• Manage a highly technical team, and develop deep knowledge to propose new designs for wider review.
• Effectively define, analyze, and evolve key performance metrics to measure engineer and team performance.
• Collaborate with customers and partners to bring new services into production.
• Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapt quickly to new information, and re-prioritize as needed.
• Pro-actively identify resource needs, participate in recruiting efforts, and hiring to grow the team.
• Responsible for people management of engineers, providing performance reviews and coaching.
