Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect is seeking a Network Development Manager to lead a global team of network development engineers and technical program managers. You will partner with Infrastructure, Systems, and Software Eng teams to build, scale, and deploy new network designs and tooling while driving reliability and automation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of managing teams experience.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of technology role experience.
• Experience with network operations either as a manager or individual contributor.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of globally distributed network engineers and technical program managers supporting Amazon’s network infrastructure.
• Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and iterative improvement.
• Partner with Engineering and Operational teams to ensure high availability and uptime of the AWS Direct Connect Network.
• Define and drive projects that improve efficiency in day-to-day tasks (or automate them away completely), identifying key metrics that reflect the success of those projects, and reporting on their progress.
• Manage a highly technical team, and develop a deep knowledge of your area in order to propose new designs for wider review.
• Effectively define, analyze, and evolve key performance metrics to measure engineer and team performance and drive service improvements.
• Collaborate with customers and partners to bring new services into production
• Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapt quickly to new information, and re-prioritize as needed.
• Pro‑actively identify resource needs, participate in recruiting efforts, and hiring to grow the team.
• Responsible for people management of a team of engineers, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching and career growth.
