Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council seeks a GIS and asset data professional to support civil infrastructure asset management through high-quality GIS and asset data services. You will ensure data accuracy and support the asset lifecycle within Council systems.

Responsibilities include capturing and validating spatial and asset data, developing GIS layers, and providing analysis to inform planning and maintenance. The role offers a 35-hour week, a salary range of $98,091–$113,998 per year plus 12% super,

Qualifications

• A minimum Diploma qualification in Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Science, Engineering, Asset Management or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Experience supporting civil infrastructure asset management through GIS, including roads, drainage, footpaths and related networks.
• Demonstrated experience capturing, validating and managing asset data, including interpreting engineering drawings, as-constructed plans and survey information.
• Experience integrating and maintaining data across GIS and Asset Management systems, with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity.
• Understanding of asset lifecycle management and the role of asset data in supporting capitalisation and financial reporting.
• Strong data management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across a range of teams and disciplines

Responsibilities

• Capture, maintain and update spatial and asset data for Council's civil infrastructure assets.
• Facilitate the integration of asset data from capital works projects, including validating as-constructed drawings and survey information.
• Develop and maintain GIS asset layers to ensure accurate spatial representation and alignment across corporate systems.
• Provide GIS analysis, mapping and data support to inform infrastructure planning, maintenance and renewal programs.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support effective asset data management and system integration.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance Council's asset data capability and GIS services
