Job summary

Mount Isa City Council is seeking a spatial information professional to support the delivery of spatial data services across all business units. The role focuses on data maintenance, analysis, data export and creation of site and network specific map products.

The ideal candidate holds a tertiary qualification in a relevant Spatial Science discipline and has experience with ArcGIS, PowerBI and Excel for data quality assurance. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Spatial Science and Surveying, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Town Planning, or a related discipline (Degree, Associate Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent).
Experience with ArcGIS Suite to maintain data in local government datasets is desirable.
Experience with PowerBI and Excel for data quality assurance and validation is desirable.
Ability to read and extract data from engineering drawings, subdivision plans, and State Government datasets to update published datasets.
Ability to understand business needs and develop suitable map products.
High level written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to apply established practices in construction, engineering and surveying.
Experience in database management and programming languages is desirable.
Proficiency with word processors and business software; able to use systems effectively.
Ability to operate a computer and peripherals proficiently.
Ability to exercise limited problem-solving with guidance from procedures and guidelines.
Current C class manual Driver’s Licence or ability to acquire one before starting.
