Job summary
Bathurst Health Service in Bathurst, NSW, is seeking a Staff Specialist Geriatrician to provide specialist assessment and leadership for older patients with complex medical and functional needs within its expanding Aged Care and Older Persons multidisciplinary team.
The role offers a flexible 32-hour arrangement, with opportunities for education, research and service development across the Western NSW Local Health District, while supporting safe transitions from hospital to home or residential
Qualifications
- FRACP with specialist recognition in Geriatric Medicine.
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Experience in assessment and management of older patients with complex needs.
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to care.
- Interest in service development and quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive geriatric assessment and specialist consultation.
- Participating in multidisciplinary ward rounds and case conferences.
- Supporting patient-centred and family-inclusive care.
- Providing clinical leadership in the development of geriatric services.
- Mentoring and educating medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
- Contributing to quality improvement and clinical governance.
- Driving service innovation and contemporary models of care.
- Supporting improved patient outcomes and patient flow.
- Contributing to reduced length of stay and effective discharge planning.
