Job summary

Bathurst Health Service invites a Staff Specialist Geriatrician to join our growing Aged Care and Older Persons MDT. Lead the development of modern geriatric services, deliver expert assessment, and coordinate multidisciplinary care for frailty and complex age-related syndromes.

You will work within a dedicated team to mentor staff, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to governance, teaching and service improvement in a regional NSW setting.

Qualifications

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with specialist recognition in Geriatric Medicine.
• Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated excellence in managing older people with complex needs.
• Collaborative, multidisciplinary care approach.
• Commitment to service development, quality improvement and education.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of geriatric services across Bathurst Health Service.
• Deliver comprehensive geriatric assessment and consultant input.
• Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and case conferences.
• Support patient-centered and family-inclusive care.
• Mentor and educate medical, nursing and allied health staff.
• Drive quality improvement, service innovation and governance initiatives.
• Improve patient outcomes, length of stay and patient flow.
