Job description

Geotechnical Engineer An exciting mid level role within our Sydney Ground Engineering team. Focus on shaping the future direction of Sydney. Rewarding career path in a culture of innovation, diversity & eminence. Design what’s beneath. Shape what’s next. What if the work you did every day helped shape cities, communities and the future of infrastructure? At Aurecon, that’s exactly what we do. We don’t just solve geotechnical challenges — we rethink them. From complex underground works to major infrastructure, we bring ideas to life in ways that are smarter, more sustainable and future-focused. Now, we’re looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground & Underground team — someone who’s ready to work collaboratively with the team, push technical boundaries and bring ideas to life.

What will you do?
  • Support the delivery of multidisciplinary projects through the provision of geotechnical design at feasibility, concept, detailed design and construction phase services stages.
  • You will have the opportunity to contribute to large transport infrastructure projects, water infrastructure, dams, energy distribution and building projects.
  • Assume responsibility for the management and delivery of small to medium scale geotechnical investigations.
  • Apply intermediate analysis using tools like PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience and more
  • Provide input to client proposals and tenders
  • Leverage off your passion and experience to support the ongoing development of the Ground Engineering team to achieve growth and diversity objectives.
  • Be encouraged to support the development and maintenance of positive client relationships and ongoing business development through promoting capability and coordinating with other key stakeholders.
  • Actively support the culture of health and safety in the workplace, with clients across the industry.
  • Maintain knowledge of Geotechnical and Ground Engineering industry developments, participate in industry events and expand your professional network.
  • Your strengths in written and verbal communication will support inter-disciplinary relationships and client relationships and in solving complex problems.
  • We know today’s complex challenges can only be solved through bringing together diverse teams of people from across our business, so there will be opportunities for you to apply your skills and creativity to projects in other geographies and markets.
What can you bring to the team?

You’re technically strong, commercially aware and passionate about continuous learning. We’re looking for:

  • 6+ years’ geotechnical engineering experience
  • Readiness to apply for CPEng with Engineers Australia
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality designs and reports
  • Willingness to engage with clients and stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion to work collaboratively
  • Involvement in industry bodies such as AGS (desirable)
  • While not mandatory, it is desirable that you are eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) security clearance. Where required for the role, Aurecon will support successful applicants through the relevant clearance process.
