Job summary

KoBold Metals is seeking a Data Scientist in Australia to build predictive models for ore-forming processes and predict mineralization in 2D/3D. You will develop datasets, quantify uncertainty, and accelerate discovery of critical battery metals.

You will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and geoscientists to design field campaigns, reduce prediction uncertainty, and guide exploration decisions, contributing from the ground up to build new tools.

Qualifications

• Experience building predictive models and applying them to varied problems.
• Knowledge of data from physical systems and geospatial data.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices including unit/integration tests and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Help develop KoBold's proprietary software exploration tools.
• Find and curate geophysical, geochemical, geologic, and geographic data and integrate it into KoBold's proprietary data system.
• Build models to predict locations of compositional anomalies within Earth's crust.
• Create visualizations to evaluate model performance and enable rapid interaction with data and features.
• Develop data processing, statistical, and physics-based techniques for geoscientific data to guide targeting decisions.
• Present to and collaborate with external partners and stakeholders.
