Job summary

Northern Star Resources is seeking a Geology Field Technician to join the Geology Growth – Field team in the Goldfields on a residential 8/6, 11-hour roster from 5:30am to 4:30pm. You will assist in collecting and processing geological samples to deliver timely data for Geologists.

The role requires quick thinking, problem-solving and meticulous attention to detail, with responsibilities spanning sampling, QAQC, data management, and site preparation.

Qualifications

• Computer literacy with ability to use Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent numeracy skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to plan daily activities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work unsupervised as required and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Meter marking, photographing, cutting, and sample collection of diamond core in a timely manner per core processing priorities.
• Include appropriate QAQC samples in all submissions.
• Submit samples in a timely manner with no errors.
• Transport samples to the offsite laboratory.
• Store and accurately catalogue diamond core in the core farm.
• Drill site preparation and rehabilitation.
• Record GPS coordinates and collar markings.
• Supervise earthworks and crane lifts per site specifications.
• Prepare drill sites by marking pads and sumps, identify hazards, ensure sites are drill-ready.
• Provide general support and logistics as required.
• Data management using Excel and Word.
• Undertake additional duties as required by Geology team.
