Job summary

Serco Canberra is seeking a civilian GP/RG to provide high-quality primary care for Defence members in a unique healthcare setting with no Medicare billing. The role includes longer appointments, occupational medicine tasks, and a patient-centred, collaborative approach within a multidisciplinary team.

The position offers a civilian role with regular day shifts, on-site parking, uniforms, CPD support, and wellbeing resources to support work-life balance and professional development.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner.
• FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration required.
• Minimum two years’ GP experience in the last five years in a GP setting.
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009).
• Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance).
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members.

About ACT Health Centre

Home to the Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy. The Health Centre opened mid-2022 and is a large facility. It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College. There is a 24-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7. Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy.

This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

After-hours, weekend and on-call shifts may be required depending on role requirements and base location.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members
• Occupational Medicine environment, conducting fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care, in addition to injury management, chronic disease management and preventative health
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment where patient wellness is paramount

What You Bring

• Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner
• FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration
• Minimum two years’ GP experience in the last five years in a GP Setting (GPT counts)
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
• Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)
