Job summary

Fabcon Structural is seeking a General Manager to run our Bayswater workshop and take ownership of the work passing through the facility. You will oversee day-to-day workshop operations, people management, safety and quality, and you will also run jobs from initial discussions through to completion, including client and builder communications.

Job description

Fabcon is looking for a General Manager to run our Bayswater workshop and take real ownership of the work that goes through it.

The role is both factory leadership and project delivery. You will be responsible for the workshop day to day, people, quality, safety and output, and you will also run jobs from first discussion through to completion. That includes dealing with clients and builders, visiting site when required, programming the work, and seeing it delivered to Fabcon’s standard.

Some work will be coordinated with our Melbourne project team. Other jobs you will own directly. Either way, you are the person accountable for what leaves the factory and how the workshop performs.

This suits someone who can run a small works and run projects, not one or the other. You will need to lead tradespeople, keep the floor productive, hold the quality line, and deal confidently with people outside the factory.

You will likely have

Experience running a fabrication workshop, or running steel projects with genuine time in the factory

The ability to take a job from discussion through to delivery

A practical understanding of steelwork (trade background is an advantage)

Clear communication with workshop staff, clients and builders

A strong standard for quality, safety and getting work finished

A trade background, industry qualifications, or tertiary education in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded.
