Empire Group is seeking a General Manager, Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance to lead a critical governance function in Brisbane. You will provide strategic leadership across Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance, shaping frameworks and delivering independent assurance to the executive team and boards.

You will build credibility with senior stakeholders, drive risk maturity and foster a culture of accountability, integrity and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Empire Group is partnering with a large and complex organisation to recruit a General Manager, Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced governance professional who can provide independent assurance, strengthen enterprise risk management and drive a strong culture of accountability, compliance and continuous improvement. Operating as part of the executive leadership agenda, this role will have significant visibility across the organisation and regular engagement with senior executives, boards and governance committees.

Beyond technical expertise, this role requires a proven leader who can influence strategic decision-making, build credibility with senior stakeholders and drive organisation-wide improvements in governance, risk management and assurance practices. You will lead an integrated Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance function, helping to strengthen organisational integrity, improve risk maturity and position the function as a trusted adviser to executive leadership and governance committees.

This opportunity will suit a commercially astute and strategically minded executive with a demonstrated track record of leading high-performing teams, delivering enterprise-wide outcomes and navigating complex stakeholder environments. You will bring the leadership presence, judgement and influence required to balance assurance obligations with organisational priorities and long-term organisational objectives.

About You

About You You are an experienced executive leader with a proven track record leading integrated Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance functions within large, complex organisations.

You will bring:

• Significant experience in a General Manager, Director or equivalent senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance functions.
• Strong leadership presence with the credibility to influence, challenge and advise senior executives, boards and governance committees.
• Extensive experience establishing, implementing and overseeing governance, risk management and assurance frameworks.
• Experience leading mature internal audit functions, including strategic planning, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated success improving governance capability, organisational risk maturity and business performance.
• Experience leading change and delivering outcomes across complex stakeholder environments.
• Outstanding communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Sound judgement, strategic thinking and a balanced, practical approach to governance and assurance.
