Job summary

City of West Torrens seeks an accomplished General Manager, Corporate Services to join its Executive Leadership Team and shape the organisation’s strategic direction and long-term financial sustainability. Reporting to the CEO, you will provide executive leadership across financial services, people, procurement, safety, compliance, and information services.

A key focus will be financial leadership, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• Postgraduate qualifications; CPA or CA credentials are highly regarded.
• Local government experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership across financial services, people, procurement, safety, compliance, and information services.
• Oversee the Council’s budget, financial operations, forecasting, long-term financial planning and reporting.
• Act as a trusted adviser to the CEO and Council with strategic and policy advice.
• Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Influence organisational strategy and lead procurement and contract administration.

Job description

The City of West Torrens is seeking an accomplished General Manager, Corporate Services to join its Executive Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction and long-term financial sustainability.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide executive leadership and operational management across a broad corporate portfolio encompassing financial services, people, procurement and safety, compliance, and information services. A key focus will be providing exceptional financial leadership, including oversight of Council’s budget, financial operations, forecasting, long-term financial planning and reporting.

As a trusted adviser to the CEO and Council, you will provide high-quality strategic and policy advice, strengthen organisational performance and drive continuous improvement. You will build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams, foster collaboration and innovation, and ensure corporate services deliver excellent outcomes for the organisation and community.

You will be a commercially astute and politically aware executive with significant senior leadership experience and exceptional financial and budgeting expertise. Your background will include influencing organisational strategy, shaping and evaluating business plans, developing policy, and leading professional teams within a complex environment. Sound knowledge of information technology, procurement and contract administration is also required.

A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related discipline is essential. Postgraduate qualifications, CPA or CA credentials and local government experience will be highly regarded.
