Job description

Singleton Council is seeking an experienced and values-led executive to provide strategic leadership to Council and help shape the future of the Singleton community. With a vision to be vibrant, progressive, connected, sustainable and resilient, Council is focused on delivering quality services and positive outcomes for its community.

In your role as General Manager of Singleton Council, you will be Council's principal staff officer, providing strategic leadership and overall management of Council's operations. You will work closely with Councillors, staff and the community, provide high-level strategic and policy advice, oversee financial and organisational performance, and ensure the efficient delivery of quality services.

Leading a multidisciplinary Council, you will drive a progressive and customer-focused culture, strengthen relationships with Councillors, employees and key stakeholders, and ensure Council's strategic priorities are translated into measurable outcomes. You will maintain a strong focus on core service delivery, financial sustainability and continuous improvement, while positioning Council to respond to the evolving needs of the community.

Council is seeking a proven local government leader who combines dependable administration with strategic execution. You will be a stable and practical leader, credible with Councillors, employees, community and external stakeholders, with the financial discipline and whole-of-Council management capability to translate strategic direction into practical delivery. You will communicate frankly and transparently, build trusted relationships, develop high-performing teams and advocate effectively for Singleton's economic transition, diversification and long-term sustainable growth. Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable.
