Job summary

Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment Ltd, Cambridge, is partnering with a high-energy casual dining concept to recruit an experienced General Manager. You will lead a busy site on the floor, shape a great team, and balance brilliant hospitality with strong commercial performance.

You’ll own the restaurant P&L, oversee labour and costs, recruit, coach and develop your team, and set clear standards to ensure consistent guest experiences and profitability.

• Proven experience as General Manager in casual dining.
• Strong on-floor leadership and guest hospitality.
• Experience with P&L and cost management.
• Ability to recruit, develop and retain a large team.
• Comfortable in high-volume restaurant environments.

Responsibilities

• Own all aspects of the restaurant, including people, guest experience, sales, labour and profitability.
• Be visible on the floor during busy services while maintaining high standards.
• Recruit, coach and develop the team, building a positive culture and clear progression.
• Manage costs, protect margins and drive sales growth through commercial oversight.

£52,000 - £55,000 + Bonus

I'm working with a brilliant, high-energy restaurant concept in Cambridge that is looking for an experienced General Manager to take the lead at one of its key sites. This is a busy, quality-led operation, so I'm looking for someone who loves being on the floor, knows how to build a great team and can balance brilliant hospitality with strong commercial performance.

THE ROLE

• You'll have full ownership of the restaurant, from the people and guest experience through to sales, labour and overall profitability.
• You'll be visible on the floor, setting the pace during busy services and making sure standards are consistently high.
• People will be a huge part of the role. You'll recruit, coach and develop your team, creating a positive culture with clear expectations, accountability and opportunities to progress.
• Commercially, you'll own the P&L and understand what drives your business - managing labour and costs, protecting margin and finding opportunities to grow sales.

THE PERSON

I'm looking for an established General Manager with experience in a busy, quality-led casual dining.

You’ll be:

• A strong, hands-on operator who genuinely enjoys being on the floor
• Confident managing a high-volume restaurant and a sizeable team
• Commercially switched on with solid P&L experience
• Brilliant with people - able to recruit, develop and retain a strong team
• Guest obsessed, with a real understanding of what great hospitality looks like
