Job summary

RMIT University is seeking a Manager, Gender-based Violence Prevention and Compliance, to lead institutional implementation of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to GBV 2025. The role provides strategic leadership, project management, and policy expertise to ensure regulatory obligations are met and cultural change is achieved.

Qualifications

• Strong GBV prevention expertise and knowledge of regulatory frameworks.
• Background in government, higher education, or large complex organisations.
• Experience overseeing regulatory obligations, compliance, and implementation.
• Ability to translate legislation into practical solutions and organisational action.
• Project management capability including strategy, risk, financial management and change.
• Experience developing organisation-wide policies, procedures and strategies.
• Strong stakeholder management with senior leaders and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; executive reporting and presentations.
• Government or higher education experience is highly relevant.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance with the National Code to Prevent and Respond to GBV.
• Coordinate implementation within timelines, budgets and quality standards.
• Maintain expertise in GBV legislation and compliance for advisory support.
• Plan and implement the GBV Prevention and Response Plan 2026-29.
• Chair the National Code Working Group and oversee governance and delivery.
• Develop and review policies and guidelines aligned with the National Code.
• Track compliance, evaluation and annual reporting processes.
• Collaborate with Prevention and Respect and Safer Community teams to deliver requirements.
• Review third-party arrangements for National Code compliance.
