Argo Natural Resources seeks a Gas Drainage Engineer to support underground coal operations at Carborough Downs and Ironbark No. 1.

The role focuses on managing and optimising gas drainage systems to keep gas within statutory limits, enabling safe, productive mining across complex underground operations. The successful candidate will bring 1+ year experience, a mining engineering degree, and competency with gas drainage planning and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in underground coal operations, ideally in gas drainage.
• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• G189 (S123) & G2 competencies.
• RIIMC603A – Establish and Maintain the Gas Drainage Management Plan (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of underground coal mining gas drainage systems and legislative requirements.
• Experience managing gas drainage activities and underground drilling programs.
• Ability to manage contractors to deliver safe, timely and cost-effective outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on system performance and continuous improvement.
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
• Proactive approach with ability to take ownership in a dynamic underground mining environment.

Argo brings together people, performance and operational excellence to responsibly deliver the resources that help build our cities and support thriving communities.**ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY**We’re looking for a Gas Drainage Engineer to join our Technical Services team and play a critical role in supporting safe and productive underground mining operations across Carborough Downs (B&P) and Ironbark No. 1 (Longwall).Reporting to the Gas & Infrastructure Superintendent, you’ll use your technical expertise to manage and optimise gas drainage systems, ensuring gas levels are effectively controlled and maintained within statutory requirements.
