Job summary

Kulani Kinis in Sydney is seeking a detail‑oriented Assistant Garment Technician with 1–2 years of experience to support the technical execution of our swim, apparel and accessories range.

Reporting to the Garment Technician and Technical Product Manager, you will help with sample management, fit sessions, tech packs, and supplier communication, building foundational skills in garment construction and grading. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone eager to grow with a creative brand.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a technical, production, or QA assistant role within fashion.
• Apparel experience required; swimwear, lingerie or underwear exposure is highly regarded.
• Solid understanding of garment construction, fabrics and finishing techniques.
• Comfort with measurement charts, technical specifications, Excel and/or PLM systems.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Clear communication to assist with offshore supplier management.
• Strong passion for women's fashion and awareness of Kulani Kinis standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive, measure, and prepare samples for review, identifying discrepancies and maintaining measurement charts.
• Support live fit sessions by preparing samples, taking notes, and assisting with tech pack updates.
• Draft clear fit, construction, and quality comments for offshore suppliers under guidance of senior team.
• Maintain up-to-date tech packs, track sample statuses, and ensure timelines and milestones are met.
• Assist with returns analysis, troubleshoot workmanship concerns, and help maintain technical product data.
• Receive hands‑on mentoring to build capability in garment construction, pattern understanding, and grading.

Reporting to the Garment Technician and Technical Product Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet high standards of fit, quality, and construction. This is a highly collaborative, hands‑on opportunity designed for someone eager to build foundational skills in garment fit, grading, and specifications while enabling our design team to focus on creativity.

What You Will Do:

• Sample Management: Receive, measure, and prepare samples (proto, SMS, PPS, shipping) for review, identifying discrepancies and maintaining accurate measurement charts.
• Fit Sessions: Support live fit sessions by preparing samples, taking meticulous notes, and assisting with tech pack updates.
• Supplier Communication: Draft clear fit, construction, and quality comments for offshore suppliers under the guidance of the senior technical team.
• Tech Packs & Critical Path: Maintain up-to-date tech packs, track sample statuses, and ensure development timelines and technical milestones are met.
• QA & Compliance: Assist with returns analysis, troubleshoot workmanship concerns, and help maintain technical product data (including HS code classifications).
• Skill Development: Receive hands‑on mentoring to build your capability in garment construction, pattern understanding, and grading.

What You Bring:

• 1-2 years of experience in a technical, production, or QA assistant role within the fashion industry (apparel experience is required; swimwear, lingerie, or underwear exposure is highly regarded).
• A solid foundational understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and finishing techniques, paired with an eagerness to learn.
