Job summary

Yulong Stud in NSW's Segenhoe property seeks a motivated Gardener to join our team, delivering lawn care, pruning, mulching and general grounds maintenance. The ideal candidate has gardening or property maintenance experience and can work independently or with others.

A knowledge of plant and lawn care is important, with irrigation knowledge and a chemical application certificate highly regarded. A full driver’s licence and Australian working rights are required for this role.

Responsibilities

• General Lawn care, including edging, mowing, fertilisation, snipping, re‑seeding and overseeding.
• Pruning, trimming and hedging, including shaping.
• Hand weeding and mulching as required.
• Watering and maintenance of fixed irrigation systems.
• Treatment of plant pests, diseases and weed spraying as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of all external areas.
• Keep grounds and surrounds clean and tidy.
• Landscape and establish new areas and gardens as required.
• Maintain gardening equipment and machinery.
• Comply with health and safety and equal employment opportunity initiatives.
• Work in accordance with management directions.

Yulong Stud’s newly acquired property in NSW, Segenhoe, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Gardener to join our team. Located in the picturesque Hunter Valley region, this role offers the opportunity to work in a unique industry environment.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and bring relevant experience to the role. The successful candidate will have a background in either gardening or general farm/property maintenance, with the ability to operate independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• General Lawn care, which includes edging, mowing, fertilisation, snipping and re‑seeding and overseeding.
• Pruning, trimming and hedging, including hedging to desired shapes.
• Hand weeding and mulching as required.
• Carrying out manual watering including the maintenance and operation of fixed watering systems.
• Treatment of plant pests, diseases and weed spraying as required.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of all external areas including paths and hard surfaces.
• Ensuring grounds, you are responsible for, and surrounds are kept clean and tidy.
• Landscape and establish new areas and gardens as required.
• Ensuring the maintenance of all gardening equipment and machinery you use.
• Comply with all workplace health and safety and equal employment opportunity initiatives to contribute to a safe, healthy, equitable and ethical workplace.
• Work in accordance with management directions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience in gardening, groundskeeping or property maintenance.
• Knowledge of plant and lawn care, and the relevant seasonal maintenance.
• Understanding irrigation system highly regarded.
• Current chemical application certificate highly regarded.
• Ability to operate relevant gardening equipment safely.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and demonstrate sound problem‑solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and time management.
• Self-Motivated, reliable, and professional in manner.
• Strong focus on presentation and property standards.
• High attention to detail and a high level of awareness working around horses.
• Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Full driver’s licence and working rights in Australia.
