Job summary

The Transport Workers’ Union of Australia (TWU) is recruiting a Future of Work Officer to research trends, develop policy briefs and support campaigns aimed at securing fair standards for transport workers in a changing industry.

Based in Sydney CBD, the role requires experience in union campaigning, research, policy development and advisory work, with a focus on decarbonisation and ethical technology deployment.

Qualifications

• Experience in union campaigning, research, policy development, advisory, legal and industrial roles.
• Ability to gather, assess and synthesise evidence from diverse sources.
• Understanding of unions, industrial relations and employment law.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on future‑of‑work trends for transport workers.
• Develop policy briefs, reports and campaign materials.
• Monitor domestic and international developments relevant to future‑of‑work issues.
• Support legal, industrial and campaigning teams to use regulatory mechanisms to secure protections.
• Prepare high‑quality written materials for officials and stakeholders.
• Engage with members and union colleagues to centralize worker voices.
