Tourist Hotel Queanbeyan is seeking an experienced Chef to join a fast-paced kitchen team led by a dedicated Head Chef. The role offers an energetic environment, with a family-like team culture and opportunities to work across diverse cuisines.

The candidate should have at least 3 years in a professional kitchen, be flexible to a 5-day spread across a 7-day operation, and demonstrate excellent grooming, communication, and food safety practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in a professional kitchen environment.
• Flexible and willing attitude with strong communication and customer service skills.
• Immaculate grooming and pride in presentation.
• Ability to manage your own sections and deliver high-quality food.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) and food hygiene knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present high-quality dishes across multiple cuisines in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety.
• Work as part of a team under the Head Chef.
• Rotate across kitchen sections and rostered shifts (Mon–Sun).
• Deliver consistent quality throughout service.

We are looking for an outstanding person who has some experience working in a busy commercial kitchen across a variety of cuisines and styles, delivering good quality and modern innovative food.

You;

• Minimum 3 years experience in a professional environment
• Able to work 5 days across a 7-day operation
• Must have qualifications or trade experience equivalent
• Flexible and willing attitude, clear communication and customer service skills
• Immaculate grooming and pride in presentation
• Ability to manage your own sections and deliver a consistently high standard of food throughout service
• Take pride in food presentation, always ensuring top quality
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Food Hygiene compliance, knowledge and practices
• Availability for rotating roster across Mon to Sun
• Job will require approx. 38 hrs per week
