Job summary

Ready Media Group (RMG) is seeking a skilled web application developer to join our Melbourne team. You will align with the Head of Technology to modernise legacy code, manage technical debt, and build robust integrations with Salesforce, Mixpanel and Snowflake.

You will mentor peers, participate in SCRUM rituals, and support after-hours deployments and UAT. The role requires strong PHP with Laravel or Yii2, solid MySQL design, RESTful API development, and proficiency in AWS environments.

Qualifications

• Strong PHP with Laravel, Yii2, or other framework experience.
• Strong MySQL, including schema design and query optimisation.
• RESTful API design and development.
• Strong skillset with AWS Infrastructure environments (EC2, RDS, S3, Cache).
• Good understanding of Agile methodology.
• Understand CI/CD - Test Automation, Test Driven Development.
• Secure coding practices.
• Git and code review workflows.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to modernisation of legacy code, tooling and development practices.
• Manage technical debt and keep dependencies and frameworks up to date.
• Write and review code with a focus on quality, security and coding standards.
• Optimise application performance, including queries, caching and page load.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms (Salesforce, Mixpanel, Snowflake).
• Mentor other developers and provide necessary guidance and support.
• Work with Product team to discuss and refine new requirements and functionality.
• Build appropriate unit tests for Test Automation.
• Assist with after hours work to deploy builds and provide user acceptance testing.
• Help run daily standups with offshore development team.

Job description

Reporting to the Head of Technology, you will help build a strong onshore presence of web application talent. You will work alongside the in-house app developer and offshore development team. You will have a strong understanding of SCRUM Agile Methodology where you will perform allocated development tasks, perform User Acceptance Testing, assist in preparation of sprint cycles and participate in common SCRUM rituals (sprint planning, daily standups, retros). As part of the in-house IT team, you will be an all-rounder willing to help mentor the existing team. The role requires some afterhours support during peak periods and product delivery rollouts.
