Job summary

Job2Go Pty Ltd is seeking Fruit Farm Workers for a farm in Paddy's Green, Mareeba. Duties include irrigation monitoring, soil fertilisation, pruning, chemical application, tree planting, and harvest support. The role requires AQF Certificate III or higher and at least one year of fruit farming experience on a large commercial site.

Transport and licence are needed. This full‑time position offers AUD 70,000–78,000 per year plus superannuation, with potential to work across multiple crops

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III or higher is required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Fruit Farm Worker.
• Experience with limes, lychees or other crops on large commercial scale (300 acres) is desirable.
• Knowledge of applying chemicals to control weeds, insects and fungi.
• Ability to operate farm machinery and supervise packing as needed.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and meet standards.
• Knowledge of pack shed operations and QA is desirable.
• Experience in lime orchards is desirable.
• Own transport and driver's licence required.

Responsibilities

• Plant new trees using tools or machinery per farm manager.

Salary: $70,000 to $78,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking Fruit Farm Workers to join their farm located in Paddy's Green, Mareeba.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consistently check irrigation channels to ensure appropriate amounts of water are supplied to trees for growth
• Ensure soil is adequately fertilized and trees are regularly pruned
• Apply chemicals or pesticides to trees to prevent, growth of weeds, disease, or damage causes by any pests, where necessary
• Plant new trees using relevant tools or machinery, where directed by farm manager
• Any other duties as directed by farm manager in relation to the care of the trees and soil conditions to improve growth
• May assist with harvesting ripe fruits using farming machinery and disposing of any bad fruits, when short-staffed during peak periods

Requirements:

• Minimum AQF Certificate III or higher qualification
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Fruit Farm Worker
• Prior experience in assisting with farming limes, lychees and other crops on a large commercial scale across three hundred (300) acres;
• Knowledge regarding the application of various chemicals required to control weeds, insects, and fungus growth on different crops;
• Ability to operate line packing machines and supervise the packing process from time to time as directed by Farmer.
• Ability to perform duties with limited supervision and to required standard
• Knowledge of pack shed operations and quality assurance highly desirable
• Previous experience working in lime orchard highly desirable
• Ability to operate farm machinery such as forklifts, tractors and sprayers highly regarded
• Must have own transport and driver's licence.
