Job summary

Maddocks is recruiting a Lawyer/Associate to join the Melbourne Construction and Projects team. You will work on transactional front-end matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, and advising on project documentation for a diverse client base including government and major contractors.

We seek a 2–4+ year PQE lawyer who can contribute to business development and mentor junior colleagues, while thriving in a collaborative, growth-focused environment in Melbourne.

Qualifications

• Currently be working as a transactional/front-end lawyer in a construction or projects team in private practice or in-house.
• Have strong drafting skills and a sound technical legal ability.
• Have genuine interest in working in the construction and infrastructure sector.
• Exhibit a client-focused approach with understanding of commercial drivers in the industry.
• Be independent, quick to learn new concepts and contribute ideas.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and provide advice on construction contracts and related project documents.
• Work for a wide range of clients including government, local and international contractors and principals.
• Contribute to the team’s business development activities.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with Partners.
