Job summary

Smiths Detection in Australia and New Zealand seeks a commercially minded Financial Analyst to join the ANZ Finance team, driving performance through insightful analysis, forecasting and strategic financial support.

This role partners with Finance, Sales, Programs and regional leadership to provide financial insights that enable informed decisions and profitable growth across Australia and New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline.
• Full professional membership with CPA or CA.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in FP&A, financial modelling or commercial finance.
• Experience with budgets, forecasts, business cases and project financial analysis.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with SAP and related reporting tools.
• Experience working in IFRS and AASB reporting environments.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions and operational performance.
• Analyze revenue, margins, costs and profitability trends, identifying key drivers and variances.
• Investigate monthly revenue fluctuations and expenditure movements, providing meaningful commentary and recommendations.
• Deliver product, service and customer profitability analysis to ANZ leadership.
• Review monthly order intake, backlog and reporting accuracy.
• Support month-end reporting activities and management presentations.
• Partner with budget owners to understand performance and key drivers.
• Coordinate forecasting inputs from multiple stakeholders across ANZ.
• Prepare variance analysis between Actuals, Budget, Forecast and Prior Year.
