Job summary

Metso in Ballina, NSW is seeking a Foundry Operative to join the foundry team. You will work alongside colleagues to support general housekeeping and the manufacture of foundry products, reporting to the Foundry Supervisor.

Training is provided across five sections to build competence and safety is central to daily operations. You will contribute to safety, quality and timely production, with opportunities to develop across pattern shop, melt/pour and fettling stages within a collaborative

Responsibilities

• Ensure work is conducted in a safe, timely and efficient manner while maintaining the company values.
• Plan the best way to approach the daily output of product.
• Ensure all work follows work instructions to maintain product quality and meet specs.
• Manufacture moulds as per the work schedule.
• Secure moulds for pouring and pour moulds at correct temperature.
• Clear moulds from the pouring floor in a timely manner.
• Knockout sand moulds safely and productively.
• Deliver castings to fettling shop to meet delivery dates.
• Inspect castings for defects and quarantine when defects are present.
• Use hand tools, power tools and workshop machines.
• Undertake manual handling and pack & dispatch castings as per schedule.
• Operate load shifting equipment and maintain equipment; report issues.
• Contribute to process improvements and toolbox discussions on quality and safety.
• Support maintenance technician coordinator as required.
