The opportunity
IFYS Foster and Kinship Care Sunshine Coast has an exciting opportunity for aFoster and Kinship Care Coordinatorto join the team.
Working collaboratively with the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety of Queensland, this role will be responsible for providing placement supervision and support to foster and kinship carers, children and young people in family-based care across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie Region.

Responsibilities of the role
- Assess foster and kinship carers capacity to meet the Standards of Care while providing recommendations to Child Safety regarding carer suitability and ongoing approval
- Maintain regular contact with foster and kinship care families, assisting carers to provide ongoing care that is emotionally and physically safe, developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and stimulating in accordance with the Standards of Care
- Coordinate placement matching for new referrals, considering the needs of children and young people, carer capacity, placement suitability and placement stability
- Ensure all compliance requirements outlined by Child Safety for the Human Services Quality Framework licensing purposes are adhered to
- Provide direct support to children and young people in relation to their placements aligning with care plans, responding to changing needs, assessing and coordinating appropriate placement supports and providing transportation assistance where required
- Attend regular care team meetings to create and develop functional links with community organisations, professional services and alternate care networks to assist in providing additional supports to children, young people and families
Requirements for the role
- Professional experience working with children and families in a therapeutic environment
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related field required
- Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills
- Understanding of child protection and statutory intervention services
- Demonstrated knowledge of strengths-based and client-centred practice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful
- Valid Queensland Driver's License with no restrictions
- QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
- Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
- Ability to provide two references from recent employers (including your current employer)
- National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems
