Job summary

CHJ Industries Pty Ltd in Queensland is seeking a hands-on Metal Recycling Yard Hand - Forklift/Truck Operator. You will lift, shift, sort, and keep the yard moving in a busy recycling environment.

Key tasks include operating forklift (LF license), loading/unloading scrap, sorting metal, operating other plant equipment (MR/HR license), assisting customers, recording material movements, and maintaining yard cleanliness while following OH&S rules.

Qualifications

• Australian Driver’s License with Manual MR or HR
• Metal recycling experience preferred
• Pass pre-employment medical & drug/alcohol test
• Provide police background check
• Strong reliability, communication, and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and upskill
• Sound numeracy and literacy skills

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift safely and efficiently (LF license required).
• Load and unload scrap metal and other materials.
• Grade, sort and process scrap metal to keep production flowing.
• Operate other plant equipment (MR/HR license required).
• Assist customers onsite — friendly, professional front‑line service.
• Record incoming/outgoing material details accurately.
• Maintain yard cleanliness and enforce OH&S and environmental standards.
