Job summary

Downer is a leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand, and we are seeking an experienced Foreman for the Melbourne Pavements team to lead a high-performing asphalt crew delivering vital road infrastructure across Victoria. Based out of Somerton, this field leadership role focuses on safety, efficiency and quality, guiding crews to meet project targets and client expectations.

Downer is a leading provider of integrated services across Australia and New Zealand, delivering essential infrastructure that connects communities. We are currently seeking an experienced Foreman to join our Melbourne Pavements team and lead a high-performing asphalt crew delivering critical road infrastructure projects across Victoria.

Based out of Somerton, this is a key field leadership position responsible for leading asphalt surfacing crews and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard. You will play an integral role in delivering a broad range of projects, including supporting major infrastructure programs across Melbourne.

The Opportunity

As Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising asphalt and road surfacing operations, coordinating daily activities and leading crews in the field. Working closely with operational leaders and project stakeholders, you will drive safety, productivity and quality outcomes while fostering a positive team culture.

About You

• Proven experience as a Foreman, Supervisor or similar leadership role within asphalt, road surfacing or civil construction

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to build and lead high-performing teams
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
