Job summary

Palm Lake Care Deception Bay is seeking a casual Food Service Assistant / Cook to join our team, reporting to the Chef Manager. You will prepare nutritious and attractive meals for our residents and assist the Chef when needed.

This role requires good hygiene, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. We value compassionate service and offer ongoing training in a supportive, family‑owned environment.

Qualifications

• Motivated individuals focused on providing the best support for our residents.
• A current National Police Check.
• Prior experience in a similar role within Aged Care essential.
• Readiness and willing to learn new skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and take initiative.
• Ability to work as a part of a team in a proactive support role to cook.
• Excellent hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Standards.

Responsibilities

• The preparation of serving nutritious and attractive meals to our residents
• Ability to prepare and cook meals and assist the Chef when needed
• Understanding and respecting our resident's preferences and ensuring all food and beverage is served accordingly.
• Serving and distribution of morning and afternoon teas
• Assisting the Cook with the ordering and rotating of food stocks
• The cleaning of dishes after each meal ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is maintained for our residents.
• Delivering excellent customer service to our residents and their families

Position Details

Palm Lake Care Deception Bay is seeking Food Service Assistant / Cook to join our team on a casual basis.

Responsibilities

As a Food Services Assistant / Cook you will report directly to the Chef Manager and be an integral part of the team responsible for:

• The preparation of serving nutritious and attractive meals to our residents
• Ability to prepare and cook meals and assist the Chef when needed
• Understanding and respecting our resident's preferences and ensuring all food and beverage is served accordingly.
• Serving and distribution of morning and afternoon teas
• Assisting the Cook with the ordering and rotating of food stocks
• The cleaning of dishes after each meal ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is maintained for our residents.
