Job summary

Palm Lake Care Deception Bay is seeking a Food Service Assistant / Cook on a casual basis. You will work with the Chef Manager to prepare nutritious meals, serve residents, and maintain high hygiene standards in a supportive aged care setting.

The role involves food prep, stock rotation, and delivering friendly customer service to residents and their families, with ongoing training and development opportunities within Palm Lake Group’s coastal communities.

Qualifications

• Aged Care experience is essential.
• Must have a current National Police Check.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take initiative.
• Able to work as part of a proactive catering team.
• Maintain excellent hygiene and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents.
• Assist the Chef Manager and Cook with meal prep.
• Respect resident preferences and serve accordingly.
• Provide morning and afternoon tea service.
• Assist with ordering and rotation of food stocks.
• Ensure dishes are cleaned to a high standard.

Position Details

Palm Lake Care Deception Bay is seeking Food Service Assistant / Cook to join our team on a casual basis.

Responsibilities

As a Food Services Assistant / Cook you will report directly to the Chef Manager and be an integral part of the team responsible for:

• The preparation of serving nutritious and attractive meals to our residents
• Ability to prepare and cook meals and assist the Chef when needed
• Understanding and respecting our resident's preferences and ensuring all food and beverage is served accordingly.
• Serving and distribution of morning and afternoon teas
• Assisting the Cook with the ordering and rotating of food stocks
• The cleaning of dishes after each meal ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is maintained for our residents.
• Delivering excellent customer service to our residents and their families

What We’re Looking For:

• Motivated individuals focused on providing the best support for our residents
• A current National Police Check
• Prior experience in a similar role within Aged Care essential
• Readiness and willing to learn new skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and take initiative
• Ability to work as a part of a team in a proactive support role to cook
• Excellent hygiene standards
• A Knowledge of Food Safety Standards
