Job summary

Programmed is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician in Ballarat to join our food production and quality teams. The role focuses on hands-on microbiological and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to support production targets.

You will work with the production and quality teams, maintain calibration of equipment, adhere to HACCP and GMP standards, and report test results with clarity while upholding a safe, collaborative working environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Food Science/Science).
• 1–3 years of microbiological testing experience.
• Exposure to lab practices in a manufacturing context.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to engage with colleagues at all levels.
• Physically fit to stand for long periods and lift weights as required.
• Positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic.
• Commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine microbiological and chemical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Adhere to HACCP and GMP site hygiene standards at all times.
• Accurately record, interpret, and report test results, escalating anomalies as needed.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment ensuring quality and compliance standards.
• Work collaboratively with production and quality teams to support operational targets.
• Contribute to a clean and safe working environment in lab and factory areas.
