Job summary

Shangri-La Sydney, located in The Rocks, Sydney NSW, seeks a Food & Beverage Supervisor to lead the Lobby Lounge team and ensure exceptional guest experiences in a luxury hotel setting. You will oversee service, safety, and daily operations, while promoting a positive team culture and adherence to Shangri-La standards.

This full-time role requires flexibility for evenings and weekends, with opportunities to develop across Food & Beverage and other departments in a renowned luxury property.

Qualifications

• Experience in food and beverage, restaurants, hotels or similar hospitality environments.
• Supervisory or team-leading experience is highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards, with a passion for luxury hospitality.
• Ability to remain calm, organized and solutions-focused during busy service periods.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and responsible service practices.
• Ability to lead by example, motivate team members and create a positive team environment.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Lobby Lounge operations, ensuring consistently high standards of food and beverage service, guest experience, presentation, opening and closing procedures, and compliance with Shangri-La standards.
• Lead, supervise and support the Lounge team, including staff deployment, training, coaching, grooming, performance and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture.
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences by welcoming and engaging with guests, managing reservations and orders, providing menu recommendations, and resolving guest feedback or complaints professionally.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, food safety and equipment care, ensuring compliance with HACCP, SFSMS and Shangri-La Food & Beverage audit requirements, while coordinating maintenance and operational requirements with relevant departments.
• Support effective cost and operational control through stock and inventory management, monitoring breakages and wastage, maintaining accurate records, and promoting responsible use of food, beverage and other resources.

About the role

As a Food & Beverage Supervisor – Lobby Lounge, you will play a key role in overseeing the daily operation of the Lobby Lounge, ensuring consistently high standards of guest service, food and beverage quality, presentation and team performance.

You will lead by example, supporting and supervising the team throughout service while ensuring the Lounge operates efficiently and in accordance with Shangri-La standards, Food & Beverage policies and food safety requirements.
