Job summary

Queensland Government's Golden Beach State School seeks a hands-on Schools Officer, Grounds & Facilities, to join the team full-time on a temporary basis. You will maintain and improve the school's extensive grounds and facilities, including mowing and outdoor upkeep, to provide a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

The role offers practical maintenance, independence for day-to-day tasks, and regular supervision for non-routine duties.

Qualifications

• Experience with grounds maintenance and basic facilities tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors and safely operate maintenance equipment.
• Willingness to perform routine day-to-day services.

Responsibilities

• General duties: Mail, deliveries, printing, room setup, moving furniture, stores and stock management.
• Security: Maintain security systems, lock/unlock buildings and deposit school funds.
• Cleaning & waste: Clear drains/gutters, collect waste, manage rubbish and assist with major events.
• WHS: Maintain a safe workplace, safely handle chemicals/fuel and maintain equipment records.
• Maintenance: Repair and maintain buildings, furniture, equipment, locks, windows and swimming pools (where applicable).
• Communication: Liaise with school management, staff, students, tradespeople and contractors.
• Grounds: Maintain ovals, lawns, gardens and sporting facilities; mow, water, weed and fertilise.
• Equipment: Maintain and service mowers, brush cutters, tractors and other grounds equipment.
• Agriculture: Assist in the field laboratory where required.
