Job summary

Anglicare NT is seeking a Financial Counsellor to assist individuals facing financial difficulties across East Arnhem. The role includes outreach to remote communities and is based in Darwin or Nhulunbuy with Anglicare NT accommodation available in Nhulunbuy.

You will provide information, advocacy and practical support to help clients understand options, make informed decisions and build lasting financial capability, working within a team to ensure culturally responsive services.

Qualifications

• Diploma of Financial Counselling and current membership with a relevant professional association.
• Demonstrated experience working as a Financial Counsellor.
• Strong case management, advocacy and client engagement skills.
• The ability to build productive networks and partnerships.
• Well-developed written, verbal and computer skills.
• A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide information, advocacy, casework and practical support to individuals experiencing financial difficulties.
• Travel to remote communities to deliver services and outreach.
• Help clients understand their financial situation and identify available options.
• Assist clients to make informed decisions and build long-term financial capability.
• Collaborate within a supportive team to deliver culturally responsive services.
