UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Financial Counsellor to join our Financial Resilience and Wellbeing Service in Townsville on a maximum-term arrangement. In this role you will assess financial situations, advise on government support, negotiate with creditors and connect clients with community resources, with a focus on empathy and non-judgemental guidance.

Relocation assistance up to $5,000 is available, along with salary packaging and flexible work options.

Qualifications

• A Diploma in Financial Counselling is essential.
• Problem Gambling Skill Set CHCSS00111 course would be advantageous.
• Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and a non-judgemental approach in all interactions.
• Experience in building collaborative networks with health, mental health and community support providers is highly regarded.
• Eligibility for membership with Financial Counselling Queensland (FCQ).
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

Responsabilités

• Assess the financial situation of individuals and families, provide information regarding government assistance, negotiate repayments with creditors and assist in accessing community resources.
• Empower clients to manage their own financial situations and to deal with creditors through information on rights and responsibilities.
• Advocate on behalf of clients to encourage independence and self-sufficiency.
• Engage proactively with community services to ensure inclusive access.
• Contribute to community education initiatives that raise awareness of financial wellbeing.
