Suffolk County Council is recruiting a Benefits and Housing Advisor to support vulnerable adults and children with expert benefits and housing advice. You will be a key part of a dedicated team delivering high-quality guidance across phone and email channels.

Working in Adult Social Care’s Financial Inclusion and Advice Service, you’ll provide casework support, monitor trends and help shape training, while ensuring clear, Plain English guidance for staff and partners.

Qualifikationen

• Significant and up-to-date knowledge of social security and housing law.
• Experience advising on benefit entitlement, reconsiderations and appeals.
• Experience with homelessness applications and reviews, and possession proceedings.
• Ability to explain complex issues clearly and produce Plain English guidance.

Aufgaben

• Deliver specialist second-tier benefits and housing advice to practitioners and partner organisations.
• Act as first contact for benefit and housing enquiries by phone or email.
• Provide advice, casework support and quality assurance within FIAS.
• Monitor helpline data to identify trends and inform service development.
• Develop and update practice guidance and resource materials for staff and partners.
• Collaborate with independent advice sector to share best practice and update stakeholders.
• Support court advice service to protect tenancy and prevent homelessness.
