Job summary

City of Canterbury-Bankstown is seeking a dedicated Heavy Vehicle Cleaner to maintain the daily cleanliness of the council's waste fleet and wash bay facilities. The role ensures compliance with EPA standards while supporting depot presentation and operations.

The successful candidate will have an HR drivers licence, attention to detail, and experience with cleaning vehicles and heavy equipment. The position is permanent full-time with Local Government conditions and a structured allowances

Qualifications

• Valid HR drivers licence
• High attention to detail with ability to work autonomously
• Experience cleaning vehicles and plant with equipment and power tools
• Experience operating heavy waste vehicles including rear loaders and side loaders
• Knowledge of waste and street cleansing operations and related equipment
• Ability to identify and report heavy vehicle defects and faults (rust, leaks)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement scheduled cleaning programs for efficient workshop operations.
• Operate waste collection vehicles, heavy plant and equipment following safe procedures.
• Clean waste trucks and heavy machinery to EPA standards and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate workshop records of maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Identify and report defects, faults, and safety hazards to support fleet reliability.
• Transport HR vehicles safely within depots and on public roads in compliance with road rules and fatigue management.
