V/Line is seeking a Fleet Strategy and Planning Lead to shape the future of our rolling stock capability across regional Victoria. You will develop and deliver medium to long-term fleet strategies, identify gaps, and collaborate with planning, operations, asset management and external government stakeholders to align with service growth.

This role requires strategic thinking, strong collaboration, and the ability to translate insights into practical recommendations that support sustainable fleet

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategies within a transport, logistics or asset-intensive environment.
• Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate and influence diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues, explore underlying causes and develop evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience in rolling stock, fleet management, asset management, transport operations or related industries.

About the role

The Fleet Strategy and Planning Lead plays a critical role in shaping the future of V/Line's rolling stock capability and supporting the organisation's long-term growth across regional Victoria.

Reporting to the Director, Network Strategy & Timetable, this role is responsible for developing and delivering medium to long-term fleet strategies that ensure V/Line has the right rolling stock capability, capacity and utilisation plans to meet future service requirements. The role will identify current and future fleet gaps, develop strategic initiatives to address them, and provide evidence-based recommendations that support operational and organisational objectives.

Success in this role will be built on strong collaboration and influence. Working across planning, operations, rolling stock, asset management and external government stakeholders, the Fleet Strategy and Planning Lead will bring people together to solve complex challenges, balance competing priorities and deliver sustainable fleet outcomes that support the future of regional rail.

With experience in transport, logistics, infrastructure or another asset-intensive environment, you understand how to balance operational needs with long-term planning. You build productive relationships across a wide range of stakeholders, enabling you to influence outcomes, navigate competing priorities and deliver practical solutions. Naturally curious, you enjoy looking beyond the immediate issue, using data, stakeholder input and critical thinking to uncover opportunities and inform decision-making.
