Job summary

Wimmera Mallee Waste Management is seeking a skilled mechanic to work from the Horsham depot, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of vehicles including trucks and heavy equipment. The role offers some flexibility in weekly scheduling to fit personal life.

• Qualification in Automotive Mechanical repairs.
• Proven experience as an automotive mechanic.
• Able to read technical manuals and schematics.

• Service engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and tune-ups.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable mechanic to join our team, based out of the Horsham depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles including, but not limited to, trucks, telehandlers and cars. This role allows some flexibility for the candidate to structure their week in a way that suits their personal life.

Key responsibilities

• Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Service engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and tune-ups.
• Identify vehicle faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain accurate service records and reports.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
• Working alongside our Maintenance Supervisor to plan and schedule work

About you

• Qualification in Automotive Mechanical repairs.
• Proven experience as an automotive mechanic.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license. HC preferred
• Experience with modern diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of diesel engines and heavy vehicles.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
• Ability to do occasional overnight stays assisting in maintenance at other sites
