Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Client GRIFFITH CAR & TRUCK RENTAL PTY LTD, T/A SIXT Griffith, New South Wales, provides vehicle rental services to customers requiring reliable and well-maintained rental vehicles. The business is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee vehicle fleet performance, availability, compliance and operational efficiency. The Role

The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, controlling and optimising the rental vehicle fleet across acquisition and deployment, utilisation, maintenance, inspections, vehicle movement and lifecycle management. The role oversees fleet records, operating costs, safety and roadworthiness requirements, supplier coordination and operational reporting to ensure vehicle availability and service standards are maintained. This is a full time salary with an annual salary set at 80k to 85K, depending on experience plus superannuation.

The position is based in Griffith, NSW.

The Responsibilities

• Plan and manage daily fleet allocation, vehicle availability and utilisation to meet reservation demand, operational capacity and customer service requirements.
• Analyse rental demand, seasonal patterns, booking forecasts and vehicle-category requirements to establish fleet capacity, deployment and repositioning strategies.
• Oversee the fleet lifecycle, including vehicle acquisition support, fleet onboarding, registration, insurance, servicing, replacement planning and disposal coordination.
• Develop preventive maintenance schedules, coordinate repairs and monitor workshop turnaround to minimise vehicle downtime and maintain fleet roadworthiness.
• Implement fleet inspection and damage-control processes covering pre-rental and return inspections, condition reports, defect recording and repair authorisations.
• Monitor fleet operating costs, maintenance expenditure, repair budgets, asset utilisation and revenue performance to improve fleet profitability.
• Administer vehicle rental management platforms, fleet registers, reservation records, maintenance systems and vehicle movement logs to maintain data accuracy.
• Analyse operational KPIs including utilisation rates, vehicle downtime, maintenance costs, fleet availability, accident frequency and replacement cycles.
• Coordinate vehicle transfers, cleaning, refuelling, preparation and turnaround activities to achieve timely availability for confirmed customer bookings.
• Manage relationships with mechanical workshops, vehicle dealers, parts suppliers, insurers, roadside assistance providers and other fleet service contractors.
• Oversee accident and breakdown response, damage assessment, incident documentation, insurance claims coordination and repair escalation.
• Maintain compliance with NSW vehicle registration, roadworthiness, safety, insurance, workplace health and safety and internal fleet operating procedures.
• Supervise and coordinate fleet staff, vehicle detailers and operational support personnel, including workload allocation, performance monitoring and training.
• Investigate recurring vehicle faults, excessive downtime, service delays and asset losses, implementing corrective actions and revised control procedures.
• Prepare fleet budgets, asset registers, utilisation reports, expenditure analysis, maintenance forecasts and performance recommendations for management.
• Coordinate with rental counter teams and branch management to align bookings, vehicle readiness, service commitments and customer requirements.
• Develop operational improvements in fleet scheduling, maintenance planning, vehicle tracking, supplier performance, cost controls and service reliability.

The Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Fleet Management, Logistics, Automotive Management, Business Operations or a related discipline, or equivalent practical management experience.
• At least 1 years’ experience managing rental vehicle fleets, automotive fleet operations in a commercial capacity.
• At least 1 years’ experience with RCM, TSD RENTAL, Fleetio fleet management software.
• At least 1 years’ experience using GPS tracking and telematics platforms such as Geotab, Samsara, or Teletrac Navman
• At least 1 years’ experience performing fleet capacity forecasting, vehicle-category allocation, utilisation optimisation, repositioning and replacement planning.
• At least 1 years’ experience managing preventive maintenance programmes, roadworthiness inspections, defect rectification, workshop coordination and vehicle downtime controls.
• At least 1 years’ experience analysing fleet costs, maintenance budgets, depreciation considerations, utilisation metrics, operating KPIs and asset performance reports.
• At least 1 years’ experience managing accident claims, vehicle damage assessment, supplier performance, insurance documentation, service contracts and incident escalation.
• Demonstrated capability in team supervision, cross-functional scheduling, fleet performance reporting and operational problem-solving;
• Valid Australian driver’s licence required.
