Job summary

Fastlane Towing & Transport in Ballarat, VIC is seeking a capable Fleet Manager to oversee the management and effective utilisation of the company’s vehicle fleet. The role focuses on fleet acquisition, maintenance, availability and performance to support freight operations.

You will develop and oversee maintenance programs, monitor costs and manage relationships with suppliers, mechanics and service providers to ensure efficient, compliant fleet operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in fleet management, vehicle asset management or transport operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the allocation and utilisation of fleet vehicles to meet operational requirements and maintain vehicle availability.
• Coordinate vehicle purchasing, leasing arrangements, replacement planning and disposal in line with business needs.
• Develop and oversee vehicle maintenance programs, including servicing, inspections and repairs, to maintain fleet reliability and minimise operational disruption.
• Monitor fleet-related expenditure, including vehicle acquisition, leasing, fuel and maintenance costs, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with transport operations personnel to ensure suitable vehicles are available for scheduled freight movements and delivery requirements.
• Liaise with vehicle suppliers, leasing companies, mechanics and other service providers regarding fleet arrangements and ongoing vehicle requirements.
• Maintain fleet registers and management records covering vehicle usage, costs, maintenance history, registration and compliance obligations.
• Review fleet performance and prepare operational reports to support management decisions regarding vehicle utilisation, expenditure and fleet capacity.
• Establish and monitor procedures for vehicle use, maintenance and safety in accordance with applicable transport and workplace safety requirements.
• Identify fleet management issues and implement improvements to vehicle availability, asset utilisation and overall operational efficiency.

About you

• Relevant experience in fleet management, vehicle asset management or transport operations.
• Knowledge of vehicle acquisition, leasing, maintenance coordination and fleet cost management.
• Strong planning, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage supplier relationships, monitor expenditure and prepare operational reports.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• A relevant qualification in transport, logistics, business or fleet management will be highly regarded.
