Job summary

Good Shepherd Lodge is seeking a Registered Nurse for a fixed-term 4-month contract at Kerrisdale Gardens in Mackay, Queensland. The role covers morning shifts Tue–Sat, supervising care staff and coordinating clinical care for residents.

You will hold current AHPRA RN registration, with experience in residential aged care, and be able to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team while maintaining resident-centered care and adherence to care plans.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience in residential aged care.
• Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain.
• Current Influenza vaccination or willingness to obtain per QLD aged care requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to residents, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
• Supervise and support care staff in delivering high-quality care.
• Administer medications and treatments according to care plans and clinical guidelines.
• Monitor resident health status, including vital signs and changes in condition.
• Maintain accurate resident records and documentation in line with healthcare standards.
• Provide emotional support to residents and their families.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
• Contribute to quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

Registered Nurse – Fixed Term

About Us:

Good Shepherd Lodge Ltd, located in Mackay, Queensland, operates two aged care facilities: Kerrisdale Gardens and Good Shepherd Lodge. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our clinical team at Kerrisdale Gardens on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care, supervising and supporting care staff, and maintaining a safe and caring environment for residents.

About the Role:

This is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity for up to 4 months to cover parental leave, commencing in late June. Availability for morning shifts from Tuesday to Saturday is required.

As an RN, you will play a vital role in coordinating and delivering clinical care, supporting residents’ health and well-being, and mentoring care staff under the guidance of our facility management. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to residents, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Previous experience in residential aged care
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
• Commitment to resident-centered care and adherence to care plans
• Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain prior to employment
• Current Influenza (Flu) Vaccination or willingness to obtain, in line with QLD aged care requirements
• Availability to work morning shift.
