Job summary

Alltruck Bodies Pty Ltd in Dandenong, VIC seeks an experienced Fitter (General) to assemble, install and adjust truck body components in line with drawings and work packs. This full-time role offers stable permanent employment within a leading Australian manufacturer servicing diverse sectors.

You will read engineering drawings, measure and fit components, operate hand and power tools, and work safely to production schedules.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent (preferred)
• Minimum one year relevant experience
• Forklift Licence (advantageous)
• Driver’s Licence (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting job packs, engineering drawings and specifications
• Fitting, assembling and adjusting mechanical components and subassemblies
• Measuring, marking out, drilling, cutting and preparing components
• Using precision measuring equipment to check dimensions, tolerances and alignment
• Identifying mechanical faults and carrying out adjustments and minor repairs
• Installing and testing mechanical equipment, tail lifts and hydraulic/pneumatic components
• Fitting truck body accessories including doors, hinges, locks, steps, mudguards and toolboxes
• Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely
• Dismantling, inspecting and reassembling mechanical components
• Checking work against drawings, job packs and quality requirements
• Reporting defects and missing materials; completing records and handover docs
• Working to production priorities to minimise waste and delays
• Collaborating with fabrication, sheeting, electrical and finishing teams

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter (General) to join our team in Dandenong, Victoria. The Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing and adjusting truck body components in accordance with approved drawings, job packs and work instructions.

Deliver accurate fitting and a high standard of finish while supporting safe work practices and production schedules. Key Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting job packs, engineering drawings and specifications
• Fitting, assembling and adjusting mechanical components and subassemblies
• Measuring, marking out, drilling, cutting and preparing components
• Using precision measuring equipment to check dimensions, tolerances and alignment
• Identifying mechanical faults and carrying out adjustments, rectification and minor repairs
• Installing and testing mechanical equipment, including tail lifts and hydraulic or pneumatic components as required
• Fitting truck body accessories including doors, hinges, locks, steps, mudguards, brackets and toolboxes
• Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively
• Dismantling, inspecting and reassembling mechanical components and assemblies
• Checking completed work against drawings, job packs and quality requirements
• Identifying and reporting defects, damaged parts, discrepancies and missing materialsCompleting job records, quality checks and handover documentation accurately
• Working to production priorities while minimising waste, delays and rework
• Working closely with fabrication, sheeting, electrical and finishing teams to keep jobs moving

Applicants must have:

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter), or equivalent relevant recognised fitting, mechanical or engineering trade qualification (preferred but not essential)
• Minimum one year relevant experience
• Forklift Licence (advantageous)
• Driver’s Licence (preferred)

It is also preferred that applicants have:

• Strong work ethic and team-oriented
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn and upskill

A salary of $75,000 - $85,000 p.a plus super will be offered to the successful candidate.
