Cheetham Salt Limited is offering an on-site apprenticeship at Bajool, Central Queensland. You will receive practical on-the-job experience with extensive training toward a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining).

The role includes exposure to OHS, food quality standards, and hands-on work across milling, packaging equipment, and automation. You will learn to read drawings, perform basic machining and welding, and work within a supportive team while pursuing your

Qualifications

• Year 10 completion with aptitude for technical work
• Aptitude for technical/mechanical work
• Team player with good work ethic
• Willingness to study Certificate III
• Current driver’s licence

Responsibilities

• Apply OHS and Food Quality Standards
• Operate within a team environment
• Interact with IT systems and technology
• Perform engineering measurements and calculations
• Proactive, preventive and reactive maintenance to meet operational needs
• Read drawings or specs to identify job, material and equipment requirements
• Basic mechanical machining & fitting; welding TIG (stainless)

• Maintain a clean workplace per quality and safety processes

Our Bajool Operations in Central Queensland are currently seeking a motivated, committed, and reliable person who is wanting to gain practical on the job experience, whilstreceiving extensive training and a Certificate III Engineering-Mechanical Trade– Fitting & Machining. The Role

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Coordinator you will be trained to perform key responsibilities including:

• Apply principles, systems & processes of OHS & Food Quality Standards
• Operate within a team environment
• Interact with IT systems & technology
• Perform engineering measurements & calculations
• Proactive, preventative, and reactive maintenance to achieve optimal operational requirements whilst maintaining safe work practices.
• Use & interpret detailed drawings or specifications to identify job, material and equipment requirements
• Basic Mechanical Machining & Fitting
• Welding – including TIG for stainless steel
• Opportunities to work on and develop skills for a diverse range of Packaging Equipment, Conveyors, Screws, Screens, Pumps, Fans, Dryers and much more
• Maintain a clean workplace in compliance with quality and safety processes.
• Working through mandatory and elective units to achieve Certificate III Engineering- Mechanical Trade – Fitting & Machining

About You

You will bring the following skills, experience, and attributes to the role:

• Minimum Completion of Year 10, with an aptitude for technical/mechanical work or relevant pre-vocation course.
• Aptitude for technical/mechanical work
• A team player, trustworthy and has good work ethic
• A quick learner, willing to listen and learn from experience of others
• Strong ongoing commitment to workplace health & safety
• Ability to communicate professionally in writing and verbally
• Basic skill in the use and maintenance of hand and power tools
• Basic computer skills including data entry and knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
• Commitment to study and completion of Certificate III qualification
• Ability and willingness to travel to study
• Current Drivers Licences
