Cheetham Salt Limited in Bajool, Central Queensland, offers an excellent pathway into the electrical trade through a nationally recognised apprenticeship.

You will gain hands-on experience while training on-site, under supervision, with company support for ongoing learning.

Qualifications

  • Year 12 completion and aptitude for electrical work.
  • Strong safety mindset and willingness to learn on the job.
  • Team player with good work ethic and reliability.
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Basic use and maintenance of hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and MS Office.
  • Commitment to study and complete Certificate III.
  • Willingness to travel to study.
  • Current drivers licence.

Responsibilities

  • Apply OHS and Food Quality Standards principles and processes.
  • Operate within a team environment.
  • Interact with IT systems and technology.
  • Assist qualified electricians with installations and maintenance.
  • Proactive, preventative and reactive maintenance to meet operations safely.
  • Use drawings or specifications to identify job, material and equipment needs.
  • Conduct testing and fault-finding under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean workplace per quality and safety processes.
  • Work through mandatory units to achieve Certificate III.

Our Bajool Operationsin Central Queensland are currently seeking a motivated, committed, andreliable person who is wanting to gain practical on the job experience, whilstreceiving extensive training and a Certificate III in ElectrotechnologyElectrician (UEE 30820).

Bajool and Port Alma are about 40km south of Rockhampton and 40km north of Gladstone.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a rewarding career in the electrical trade while gaining hands‑on experience and completing a nationally recognised apprenticeship.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Coordinator you will be trained to perform key responsibilities including:

  • Apply principles, systems & processes of OHS & Food Quality Standards
  • Operate within a team environment
  • Interact with IT systems & technology
  • Assist qualified electricians with electrical installations and maintenance
  • Proactive, preventative, and reactive maintenance to achieve optimal operational requirements whilst maintaining safe work practices.
  • Use & interpret detailed drawings or specifications to identify job, material and equipment requirements
  • Conduct testing and fault-finding activities under supervision
  • Maintain a clean workplace in compliance with quality and safety processes. Working through mandatory and elective units to achieve Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE 30820).
About You

You will bring the following skills, experience, and attributes to the role:

  • Minimum Completion of Year 12, with an aptitude for electrical work or relevant pre-vocation course.
  • Aptitude for technical/electrical work
  • A team player, trustworthy and has good work ethic
  • A quick learner, willing to listen and learn from experience of others
  • Strong ongoing commitment to workplace health & safety
  • Ability to communicate professionally in writing and verbally
  • Basic skill in the use and maintenance of hand and power tools
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
  • Commitment to study and completion of Certificate III qualification
  • Ability and willingness to travel to study
  • Current Drivers Licences
